Action for Silk Stream – River Action Day at Watling Park

Join us for our Action for Silk Stream monthly volunteering days. They will be held on the last Thursday of each month.

We will be at Watling Park in Barnet to balsam bash! This invasive plant is taking over the river banks and so we need to remove it. The best way to do this is by pulling it out by hand so we will get into the stream and work our way along, removing as many plants as possible. If we do this before the plant produces it’s seeds, then we will prevent it from growing next year.

Where to meet:

• Watling Park, Burnt Oak, HA8 0RW
• Meet in the centre of the park near the caged basketball court.

What to Bring:

• Dress for the weather and the task – long trousers and sleeves are advisable as there are nettles and brambles.
• Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of fluids.
• We will bring tea/coffee and biscuits.
• We will provide all other equipment (including wellies) needed for the event and we look forward to welcoming you!

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please make sure you have weather appropriate clothing for the day.
